Caroline Gohlke is a writer and director from Detroit, Michigan, based in New York City. She holds an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program, where she was a TSOA Scholar and recipient of the Steven J. Ross Fellowship. Her narrative films center nonconformist protagonists on the margins of mainstream culture, exploring intimate relationships with emotional honesty and moments of catharsis.
She received the Black Family Film Prize for her short film 'Rapids', which won Best Directing at the First Run Film Festival and was selected as a finalist for the NYU Tisch King Awards. Her short film 'A Rare and Unique Item' was selected as a finalist for the 2026 DGA Student Spotlight Awards. She is the recipient of the Spike Lee Production Fund in support of her thesis short film 'Soft Pavement'. She is currently developing her debut feature film, 'Imaginary Lines'.
Her photographs and music videos have been displayed on publications such as Paste, Pitchfork and Brooklyn Vegan.
